I would like to humbly present to you the life of the holy Great Martyr St. Demetrius the Myrrh-Bearer of Thessalonica.
Our Lord declared: “If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also. But all this they will do to you on my account, because they do not know Him Who sent Me” (Jn. 15.20-21). Martyr Longinus, the Centurion who Stood at the Cross of the Lord

He stood transfixed at the foot of the Cross, watching and wondering, full of awe and amazement. And then all at once, something was born in him – a spark of faith, a brand-new beginning. And his life was changed forever.

كان يقف راسخا عند الصليب يراقب ويتأمل مفعما بالدهشة والذهول ، وبغتة ، ولد في اعماقه شيء ، شرارة ايمان ، بداية ليس مثلها ، فتبدلت سيرته الى الابد ، ويصف الانجيلي متى الالهي لحظة اهتدائه الى المسيحية بقوة فائقة .

An Orthodox View on Child Abuse

An apparently new social concern has risen in our days which highlights the abuse of children. Child abuse is generally understood in our day in broad terms, including the physical, mental, and spiritual harassment of children. Specifically, child abuse is often understood as inflicting physical harm on children such as striking. punching, whipping, depriving them of physical needs, or subjecting them to sexual perversity. Also, included in the understanding of child abuse is the psychological and emotional harm caused by excessive criticism, denigration, constant verbal maltreatment, psychological abandonment, or hatred.

 - صمت اللسان، وهو ألاّ يتكلّم كلاماً رديئاً.

 - صمت الجسد، وهو أن تبطل منه كلّ الاحساسات الشّريرة.

الملاك الحارس في

 الكنيسة الأرثوذكسية

يجد اعتقاد الكنيسة الأرثوذكسية بالملاك الحارس دعماً زاخراً في تحذير السيّد: "اُنْظُرُوا، لاَ تَحْتَقِرُوا أَحَدَ هؤُلاَءِ الصِّغَارِ، لأَنِّي أَقُولُ لَكُمْ: إِنَّ مَلاَئِكَتَهُمْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ كُلَّ حِينٍ يَنْظُرُونَ وَجْهَ أَبِي الَّذِي فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ" (متى 10:18) لوقا، في إشارة إلى ملاك بطرس، يشهد لهذا الاعتقاد بين مسيحيي القرون الأولى (أعمال 15:12).هذه الإشارات تشير إلى أنّ الملائكة الحارسين كانوا معروفين جيداً لدى قارئَي متى ولوقا، ولا تحتاج الفكرة لأي شرح.

ورثت الكنيسة في إيمانها أموراً عديدة من اليهودية، مثل الصلاة للموتى ودور الملاك الحارس. أعلن كاتب المزامير: "مَلاَكُ الرَّبِّ حَالٌّ حَوْلَ خَائِفِيهِ، وَيُنَجِّيهِمْ" (مزمور 7:34)، و"لأَنَّهُ يُوصِي مَلاَئِكَتَهُ بِكَ لِكَيْ يَحْفَظُوكَ فِي كُلِّ طُرُقِكَ" (مزمور 11:91).

رقاد الرسول الانجيلي يوحنا اللاهوتي

كان صيادا فلسطينيا متواضعا يكسب رزقه من الشباك التي كان يرميها في بحيرة جنيسارات ( المعروفة ايضا ببحر الجليل ) . هنا ، على شواطيء هذا البحر العاصف ، اهتدى يوحنا مع أخيه يعقوب ، الى انجيل يسوع المسيح ، وبعد ان استمع للفادي القدوس يتكلم عن محبة الله ومحبة القريب ، ترك اباه وصار واحدا من أحب الرسل الى يسوع ، وعمل كي يهدي كثيرين ( الى المسيحية ) ، ويصنع العجائب .... الى ان استقر اخيرا كي يدون الانجيل الرابع والاخير في العهد الجديد .تبع يوحنا واخوه يعقوب يسوع في كل فلسطين قبل صلبه ، حيث كان يبشر بالكلمة ويشفي المرضى ، وفي احدى المناسبات الدراماتيكية الخاصة ، شاهد يوحنا بذهول ابن الله ......READ MORE

He was a humble Palestinian fisherman who earned a living by casting his nets daily into mighty Lake Gennesareth (also known as the Sea of Galilee). And it was here, on the shores of the windblown lake, that St. John the Theologian – along with his older brother, James – would be converted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. القديسة تقلا أولى الشهيدات والمعادلة الرسل

وُلدت القديسة تقلا في مدينة أنطاكية في تركيا، من والدين وثنيين في سنة /20/م، وكان والدها والياً على إنطاكية وأمها سيدة فاضلة ومتمسكين بدين آبائهما الوثنية، ونشأت القديسة في هذا البيت وترعرعت فيه وتنعمت بالجاه والثراء ورفاه العيش، وكانت ذات حسن وجمال حتى أن طالبيها للزواج أصبحوا لا يحصون عدداً وتقدم منها شاب اسمه ناماريوس إلى خطبتها وهو أمير وثني ومن أعيان وشرفاء البلاد ووصل بحبه لها حتى العبادة، وكانت ذات عقل ثاقب وشديدة الرغبة في تحصيل العلوم والمعارف، فانكبت على الدراسة وكانت فصيحة اللسان.

أثناء ذلك جاء القديسان بولس وبرنابا الى إنطاكية يبشران بإنجيل الرب يسوع ويعلما الناس داعيان إياهم إلى المسيحية ونبذ الوثنية، فسمعت القديسة تعاليم القديس بولس واستهوتها تعاليمه فآمنت بالرب يسوع وأشرق في قلبها نور لم تألفه من قبل، نور المسيح

Saint Thekla,
Protomartyr and Equal of the Apostles

Thekla was born in the city of Iconium. The daughter of wealthy and highly respected parents, she was known for her extraordinary beauty. When she was 18 years old, her parents made plans for her to be engaged to a young man named Thamyris.

It just so happened that during this time, Paul the Apostle and his friend and co-worker, Barnabas, arrived in the city of Iconium (Acts 13:49-14:10). They had just left another town nearby – Antioch of Pisidia – where their teaching upset many of the Jews. Thekla’s mother, Theokleia, refused to let Thekla join the crowds which gathered to hear the Apostle Paul preach. But Thekla found that if she sat near her bedroom window she could hear everything the apostle said. She sat there for three days and three nights listening to Paul preach the word of God. When her mother and her fiancé saw that Thekla was becoming interested in the new Faith, they went to the governor of the city and complained about Paul and his preaching. The governor saw that others were upset also and did not want a riot in the town. So, in order to make the angry citizens of Iconium happy, the

الملابس الكهنوتية ومدلولاتها

الحلل الكهنوتية أثواب يلبسها ذوو الكهنوت حينما يقيمون الخدم الإلهية والأسرار المقدسة فتذكرهم بواجباتهم وتعطى لهم عند سيامتهم وارتداؤها مهم للغاية لأن الثوب على الإجمال يرمز إلى الشخصية الروحية التي لخادم الأسرار.

فعندما يرتدي الكاهن ألبسة خاصة استعداداً للخدمة الإلهية فهو يشير بذلك إلى أن شخصيته العادية حجبت ولم يعد لها أهمية بل فسحت المجال لشخصية جديدة هي شخصية خادم الأسرار.

فالكاهن الذي يقيم الخدمة الإلهية لم يعد بنظرنا ذلك الإنسان الذي نعاشره يومياً، إنه الآن الأداة الحية التي أقامها الروح القدس لخدمة الأسرار المجيدة والتي يستخدمها- رغم عدم استحقاقه- ليبث نعمة الرب في الكنيسة. فارتداء الألبسة الكهنوتية يعني أن الكاهن، رغم جهله، وخطاياه التي هي موضوع حساب بينه .......READ MORE

عيد رفع الصليب

بعض أعيادنا جاءت بها أحداث تاريخية. واحد منها هذا العيد المؤسس على حدثين، اولهما اكتشاف القديسة هيلانة ام القديس قسطنطين الكبير خشبة الصليب في اورشليم. اذ ذاك قام الأسقف مكاريوس ورفعه بيديه وبارك الشعب به0 والحدث الثاني ان ملك الفرس (ايران) خسرو غزا اورشليم السنة الـ 614 (قبل دخول العرب) واستولى على صليب السيد وحمله الى عاصمته المدائن حيث بقي 14 عامًا فاستردّه ملك الروم هرقل بعد ان دحر خسرو.

احتفالا بهذين الحدثين جاء العيد وفيه يطوف الكهنة بالصليب موضوعًا على صينية ومحاطًا بالرياحين او بالزهور فيتقدم في نهاية الصلاة السَحَرية المؤمنون ويقبّلون الصليب ويعطيهم الكاهن زهرة ليوحي ان فرح خلاصنا جاء بهذا الصليب. ثم يقام القداس وترتّل في القسم الأول من القداس "خلص يا رب شعبك" وعبارات اخرى تتعلق بصلب السيد.

الإنجيل كما تلاحظون من يوحنا يحتوي على سر الآلام. اما المعاني الروحية التعليمية ففي الرسالة وهي مأخوذة من الرسالة الأولى الى أهل كورنثوس ونستهلها بهذه الكلمات: "ان كلمة الصليب عند الهالكين جهالة (او حماقة). واما عندنا .......نحن المخلصين فهي قوة الله". ويفسر بولس

AN ORTHODOX UNDERSTANDING  OF ACTS OF MERCY

Christ commanded his disciples to give alms. To "give alms" means literally "to do" or "to make merciful deeds" or "acts of mercy." According to the Scriptures the Lord is compassionate and merciful, longsuffering, full of mercy, faithful and true. He is the one who does merciful deeds (see Psalm 103).

Acts of mercy are an "imitation of God" who ceaselessly executes mercy for all, without exception, condition or qualification. He is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.  READ MORE
