وصايا لمن يريد الدخول 

فى سلك الرهبنة

اسمع يا بنى كلامى واحفظه فهذه وصاياى يجب ان تمارسيها ان اثرت ان تكون رابهاً لأنك ان كسلت فى اتمام احدى هذه الوصايا فما اكملت الواجب ، ويكون وعدك كاذباً وآراؤك عن الرهبنة ليست صحيحة ، ومالك الذى وزعته قد أضعته سيدى إذ تصبح طلباتك فارغة لأنك لم تستيقط بقوة ولم تقبل على السيرة الرهبانية باجتهاد ولم تربط وسط قلبك بالكمال ولم تستعد للقتال الشيدد ضد الشياطين الغير منظورين ، كما يقول الرسول بولس: ان قتالنا ليس مع لحم ودم ، بل مع الرؤساء والسلاطين ومع احياء الشر فى عالم الظلمة ومع الارواح الخبيثة.

An Explanation of the Interior

of Orthodox Churches

The visitor to an Orthodox Church is usually impressed by the unique features and the external differences between this place of worship and those of the various traditions of Western Christianity. The rich color, distinctive iconography and beauty of the interior of an Orthodox Church generally are in sharp contrast to the simplicity which one finds in many Roman Catholic and Protestant churches. When one enters the interior of the Orthodox church it is like stepping into a whole new world of color and light. ننشر في ما يلي المداخلة التي تلاها مستشار مفتي الجمهورية اللبنانية، السيد محمد السماك، أمام السينودس الخاصّ حول الشرق الأوسط.

 عندما تلقّيتُ الدعوة الكريمة إلى السينودس الخاصّ حول الشرق الأوسط، ارتسمت أمامي علامتا استفهام. الأولى هي: لِماذا هذا السينودس من أجل مسيحييّ الشرق؟ والثانية هي ما معنَى دعوة مسلم إلى السينودس، وأيّ دور لِي فيه، وبعده؟

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre – the Church of the Resurrection

The church of the Holy Sepulchre is also called by the Orthodox Christians, the Church of the Resurrection, because not death but resurrection is the foundation of Christian victory. The Holy Sepulcher Church is a settlement that the Crusaders had built in the eleventh century in place of the ancient churche built by Empress and Saint Helena in the fourth century in Jerusalem. The church bares the most precious vestiges for Christians: Mount Calvary and the Tomb of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Here, it is also found the cave where the Holy Cross – that our Lord was crucified on – was discovered by Empress Helena (the mother of St Constantine the Great).

كنيسة القيامة من أعرق كنائس بيت المقدس ،استغرق العمل في بنائها أحد عشر عاما إذ بدأ عام ثلاثمائة وخمسة وعشرين وانتهى عام ثلاثمائة وستة وثلاثين للميلاد.

أشرفت على بنائها الملكة هيلانه والدة الإمبراطور قسطنطين ..هذل وقد عثرت الملكة هيلانه أثناء زيارتها إلى بيت المقدس على خشبة الصليب الذي علق عليه السيد المسيح ،وأرادت بناء كنيسة في المكان.

لبى الإمبراطور رغبة والدته ،ولم يوفر مالا ولا حرفيين أو خبراء في سبيل بناء كنيسة لائقة، وأشرف على البناء بشكل مباشر مهندس سوري اسمه"زينو بيوس،ورجل دين من شيوخ الكنيسة اسمه يوستاثيوس.
